Do you remember the Korean War? It was 70 years ago on June 25 when the Korean War broke out. North Korea launched an unprovoked invasion to the Republic of Korea. This war lasted for three years and one month.
North Korea’s Kim, Il-sung, grandfather of current dictator Kim, Jong-un, attacked the Republic of Korea on June 25, 1950, seventy years ago today. The Communist North reached almost every nook and corner of the Korean peninsula.
At this critical juncture of moment, the United States forces along with 16 nations sent combat troops under the United Nations resolutions with General Douglas MacArthur to push back the Communists. The battlefront raged back and forth. North and South Korea are technically still at war. Why? Because no peace treaty was reached when the Korean War ended in July of 1953. It was only a ceasefire which means another war could erupt. Remember, also, that it is not the forgotten war. Recently, North Korea cut off all communication with South.
One thing I want to impress upon you: The South Korea would not have been in existence but for the massive sacrifices of American lives and financial assistance from the United States. For that reason, we owe a lot to America and American people.
Let us NEVER forget America’s enormous support and sacrifice. Seventy years later, the American forces are still stationed in South Korea to defend against another Korean War. Thank you America for Korean democracy and economic prosperity. The United States of America and the Republic of Korea are in eternal friendship.
God bless you. God bless America.
